Thank you for your reporting on this. I was sad to learn that UCB unceremoniously laid everyone off without pay. As a student who was in class at the time the pandemic hit, UCB never reached out to me to offer a partial reimbursement for the class I didn't get to complete. Perhaps more egregiously though, when I reached out to UCB seeking tuition reimbursement for a future class I paid for that had been postponed indefinitely, they refused, promising "credit" for a class to be held at some time in the unforeseen future. This was in violation of their refund policy. Luckily, my credit card company was able to file a dispute on my behalf and credit the money back to me, but I wonder if there are others who may have paid by cash or by check who wouldn't have as easy recourse to get their money back.
